Follow the steps below to calculate a TPM.
- Enter the campus name in the box below and a selection list will appear. Click on the campus name the student attended to select it. If the campus is new this year and does not appear on the list, you can enter the district name and then select the district in order to use the district’s mean scale score. If the district is new, enter “Use state mean” and click on the "Use state mean" pop-up to use the state mean scale score in the calculation.
- Select the grade in which the student tested.
- Select the language of the test in which the student tested (for grades 3–6 only).
- Select the subject for which the TPM is being calculated (the projection subject).
- When calculating a TPM for reading or mathematics at grades 3 or 4 Spanish, a “Projection Language” box will appear prompting you to select either Spanish or English. (When the TPM for Spanish grades 3 and 4 reading and mathematics is calculated for reporting purposes, the projection language will be Spanish.)
- Enter the reading (English language arts for grade 10) scale score for the student. Use the vertical scale score for grades 3–8.
- Enter the mathematics scale score for the student. Use the vertical scale score for grades 3–8.
- If the TPM is being calculated for writing, social studies, or science, a scale score entry box will appear for the subject you have selected. Enter the student’s scale score into the scale score box.
- Click on the "Calculate" button.
After the "Calculate" button is clicked, the campus mean scale score for the projection grade and subject as well as the appropriate constants and coefficients will be retrieved. Using the student scale scores, the TPM results will then be calculated. In addition to the TPM results, the Met Standard scale score at the projection grade/language/subject will be displayed. The source of the mean scale score (campus, district, or state) will be displayed with the mean scale score that is used in the calculations. If the grade within the student's campus did not have at least 30 students, the district mean will be used. If the district did not have at least 30 students in the grade, the state mean scale score for the grade/subject will be used.
